The Building Safety Act 2022 received Royal Assent in April 2022. Re: A Company (Injunction to Restrain Presentation of Petition) [2020] EWHC 1406 (Ch)
The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill 2020 is not yet in force. Or is it? A landlord of high street retail premises contended that until such times as the Bill became law, it should not be prevented from petitioning for the winding up of a defaulting tenant. Mr Justice Morgan disagreed, granting an ex-parte application to restrain presentation of the landlord’s petition earlier this week.

Easing Lockdown for the Residential Property Market
On 13 May 2020, the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 came into force, signaling a start to the tentative easing of the “lockdown” promised by the Prime Minister in his speech on 10 May 2020. In particular from the point of view of the property industry, measures were introduced to try to kick-start the housing market, so often a barometer of economic health.
