Gormandy v Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation
Oliver Radley-Gardner KC and Imogen Dodds, and Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj SC, instructed by Theo Solley of Sheridans, appeared in the Privy Council in the adverse possession appeal in Gormandy v Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation. On the adverse possession side, the case raised issues about (a) the extent to which the land claimed by the squatter needs to be identified and (b) the impact on an adverse possession claim of concurrent use by third parties. However, the Board disposed of the appeal on the principle in Devi v Roy, which is helpfully analysed in the opinion of the Board.
